Exhibitor(s) have been recognized since 2011 for their efforts in the area competitive exhibits. Those efforts have been seen at the fair over many years, with numerous items, in various categories…of quality workmanship or labor. “We applaud their dedication!”
The “Premier Exhibitors” are:
- 2019 – Mary Dunkelberger
Mary attributes her baking, canning and cooking skills to her mother, Frieda Frieling, and her grandmother, Elura Coleman. Living on a farm, and with five siblings of which she was the oldest, there were many fruits and vegetables that needed to be used either in baking, canning or cooking, and she liked to help with all three.
Her gardening skills of flowers and herbs come from her grandmother, whom always had a huge flower garden and a room full of houseplants. She also gives credit to her son, Jeffrey Snyder, for his advice on growing flowers, plants and canning & baking. Jeff encouraged her to enter exhibits at Gratz Fair, Schuylkill County Fair, Perry County Community Fair, Bloomsburg Fair and the PA Farm Show.
She worked in retail for 50 years starting as a seasonal salesclerk in the toy department during Christmas of 1967 and it was a long Christmas! Mary was hired as a fulltime associate in March 1968, became sales manager in 1976 and supervised all areas of the store at one time or another. She retired in April of 2017. Congratulations to Mary Dunkelberger!
